To predict the course of epilepsy using a set of physiological parameters.</p></sec><sec><title>Materials and methods</title><p>Materials and methods. We examined 72 healthy individuals (control group) and 163 patients with epilepsy by monitoring the EEG, the evoked potentials, and the parameters of the motor and vegetative systems. Based on the cluster approach, the patients were subdivided into subgroups according to their clinical and psychological characteristics, as well as the quality of life. These subgroups were quantitatively described using the logit regression models and the artificial neural networks technology.</p></sec><sec><title>Results</title><p>Results. We were able to discern between the subgroups of patients with a favorable and unfavorable course of the disease. The patients with an unfavorable course of epilepsy had an increased latency of cognitive evoked potentials, a decreased activation of the associative and the motor cerebral mechanisms, as well as a prevalence of the sympathetic activity. We have found reasonably good correlations between the patients’ clinical characteristics and the physiological parameters based on the logit regression analysis and artificial neural networks models.</p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Цель – прогнозирование особенностей течения эпилепсии на основе комплекса физиологических показателей.</p><sec><title>Материалы и методы</title><p>Материалы и методы. Проведено комплексное клинико-физиологическое обследование 72 практически здоровых лиц (контрольная группа) и 163 больных эпилепсией с использованием электроэнцефалографии, регистрации вызванных потенциалов, характеристик моторного и вегетативного обеспечения деятельности. Методом кластерного анализа на основе клинических, психологических характеристик и показателей качества жизни пациенты распределялись в группы с различным течением эпилепсии. Осуществлялась классификация пациентов на клинические группы при помощи логит-регрессионного анализа и технологии искусственных нейронных сетей.</p></sec><sec><title>Результаты</title><p>Результаты. Выделены группы пациентов с благоприятным и неблагоприятным течением заболевания. Выявлено увеличение латентности компонентов когнитивных вызванных потенциалов, снижение активации ассоциативных и моторных церебральных механизмов, а также увеличение симпатических влияний в группе пациентов с неблагоприятным течением. Удовлетворительно решена задача классификации пациентов на клинические группы на основе исследуемых физиологических показателей при помощи моделей логит-регрессии и искусственных нейронных сетей.</p></sec><sec><title>Заключение</title><p>Заключение. Неоднородность группы больных эпилепсией по клиническим и психосоциальным характеристикам связана с преобладанием симптоматических форм при неблагоприятном течении заболевания.
